RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

We offer a range of services to help keep your yard clean for you and your furry family members!

Poop Scooping

We offer scheduled weekly yard cleanings, with one, two or three weekly service visits. Pooper scooper service is scheduled to fall on the same day(s) each week. We also offer one-time cleanups.

We use the usual scooping gear, but use 100% compostable bags that meet the ASTM D6400 standard. We sanitize all our equipment and shoes before we enter a new property, ensuring we don’t track any harmful bacteria or parasites into your yard.

We will send a text before we arrive so you know we are on our way and another with a picture of your closed gate once we are finished. We are polite, professional, and pride ourselves on the quality of our service.

Each Service Visit Includes:

  • Freshly sanitized equipment with Kennel-Grade disinfectant.
  • Removal of waste. We won’t ever use your trash bins.
  • Front yard inspection to be sure local dogs haven’t left any surprises!
  • Contact if we notice anything abnormal with your dogs waste.
  • Post service gate pictures so you can be sure your yard is secure.
  • All bags we use are 100% compostable and certified by BPI.

Why Scoop Often?

Dog poop is a major environmental pollutant. When left outside, rain and melting snow washes it into local waterways and can also pollute the local water table. The high concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorous in the waste cause out of control algal blooms which deplete oxygen in the water and harm aquatic life.

There are also many different viruses and parasites that live in dog poop. Giving your pup a clean yard prevents them from tracking these nasty critters into your home. Check out our Sanitation section below for more info.

Deodorization

Let’s be honest. Dog poop stinks and so does their urine! Some dogs have a habit of choosing your favourite spot in the yard to do their business. This obviously is unsanitary and the scent can be embarrassing when you have visitors. Our eco-friendly and pet-safe deodorizer leverages enzymes to biodegrade dog poop, urine, vomit, sweat, and blood. Due to this ability, not only will it neutralize any odours, but it will help lawns recover from burn spots caused by pet waste.

We offer two different yard deodorization application styles depending on the circumstances. If we have permission and access to your hose, we will connect our handy sprayer attachment that allows us improved coverage of the areas to be sprayed. If we don’t have access to a hose, we will mix up a batch and apply it by hand with a pressurized sprayer.

Benefits of Yard Deodorization

  • Refresh entire yard or target specific problem areas.
  • Avoid embarrassing smells while family and friends are visiting.
  • Give your dog a fresh-scented area to do their business.
  • Biodegrades waste that is unable to be seen or scooped

About Our Deodorizer

Our enzyme-based deodorizer is biodegradable, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, non-irritating, does not contain bleach or other harsh chemicals and is manufactured by a Canadian company! It is safe for both humans and animals as well as plants and the environment. It is specifically designed to degrade organic matter like poop, urine, vomit, blood, and sweat.

Waste Bucket Service

We leave a 5 gallon bucket lined with a compostable bag and topped with a smell-proof, easy to open lid. You fill it with waste and we haul the bag away weekly on your scheduled service day. If you think the task of dog poop cleanup isn’t so bad, but want your garage to smell fresh, then this might be for you!

After we remove the bag of waste, we then spray and wipe the bucket down with a kennel-grade sanitizer. Finally, we deodorize with our enzyme solution, replace the compostable bag and dust a bit of baking soda in to help keep things fresh. Any bags you choose to use are currently accepted in the bucket program whether or not they are compostable.

We also offer activated carbon in our buckets in order to cut down on the smell when opening the lid, for a small extra fee.

Bucket Service Benefits:

  • Keeps trash free from the dreaded poop smell. Buckets are usually kept outside away from the home.
  • Many customers find it more convenient than walking to their garbage bins.
  • Helps to keep the job of cleaning up dog waste under control.
  • Sanitized and deodorized weekly. Further odour control with baking soda or activated carbon.

Mini Poop Bag Delivery

We offer delivery of compostable poop bags so that you can help our bucket system be totally plastic free. We currently use a supplier with plans to offer our own brand of compostable poop bags in the future!

Our Compostable Bags

The bags we use are made from plant starch and are certified by the Biodegradable Product Institute (BPI) to meet the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D6400 standard.

To meet this standard, a product must:

  • Break down into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass at a rate similar to natural compostable materials like yard trimmings.
  • Physically decompose into small fragments to be indistinguishable from compost after 180 days.
  • After composting, the material should leave no toxic residues or high levels of heavy metals that would harm the resulting compost quality.

We have to remember that these standards apply only in a commercial compost centre and not when these bags are accidentally released into the environment. However, they will still biodegrade into compost, just at a slower rate. We choose to use these bags but our customers are free to use whichever bags they choose in their buckets, compostable or not.

Why do we choose to use certified compostable bags?

When starting our business we found there was an incredible amount of plastic dog waste bags entering the garbage chain. One study estimates that globally up to 1.22 million tons of dog poop bags are destined for landfills per year. Even though they are usually intended for a landfill, these bags sometimes make their way into our environment where they are sources of microplastics in our waterways and food chain.

We decided to use composable bags for our dog waste removal service whether they are intended to be transported to a compost centre or a landfill. In either case, if they make their way out into the environment, they pose significantly less damage than old-fashioned plastics.

These are very different from certain “biodegradable” or “Oxo-degradable” bags which actually pose environmental risks. as they breakdown into smaller and smaller pieces but can take 1000’s of years to degrade. During that time, they essentially behave like microplastics that plague our environment and food chain.

A more recent development is local municipalities redirecting dog waste to special facilities where it’s composted, releasing renewable natural biogas. This gas is collected, purified, and pumped into the local gas grid. The composted solids are used as fertilizer and soil amendments. We hope to encourage our local municipalities (Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek) to take the lead of Waterloo, Ontario and create a local biogas and dog waste compost centre.
